At first it seemed to be all about improving system performance

Update: A new system update for the PlayStation 5 apparently also changes the console interface during games.
Earlier this week, an update was rolled out that Sony reported solely aimed at improving system performance, but more and more gamers are now reporting that their console’s interface while gaming has also changed. It is currently unclear whether this interface change is part of the most recent update or is being implemented separately.
However it changes according to Push Square the way Activity Cards are displayed during the game. Instead of a long strip of “cards”, they are now joined. For example, in PGA Tour 2K23, a group is created with Activity Cards aimed at the single player and a group aimed at multiplayer.
Trophies have also been changed in the game. When you press the Trophy icon, you will immediately see a complete list of all the Trophies available in the game. You can block certain trophies. Previously this had to be done via the main Trophy menu.
Original message:
Sony has released a new system update for the PlayStation 5.
You can now download the update 22.02-06.02.00. According to official description the patch is supposed to “improve system performance”. There are no further details. It’s exactly the same description as the previous PS5 update released earlier this month.
The latest substantial update for PS5 came out in September. This added some sort of folders to sort games in the form of “game lists”. The update also added support for HDMI 1440P video.
In related news, Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Asia has released a new PlayStation commercial focusing on the console’s range of games. This will include (upcoming) games like God of War: Ragnarök, Final Fantasy 16, Sonic Frontiers, Hogwarts Legacy, The Last of Us: Part 1 and Gotham Knights. The video can be seen below.
