New “Summer Bus Line” in Styrian Holiday Region Schladming-Dachstein to Improve Traffic Calming and Experience Quality

Another important milestone in terms of traffic calming and quality of experience in the Styrian holiday region Schladming-Dachstein: In Gröbming the new “summer bus line” is presented, which this year for the first time during the holidays from July 9th to September 10th between Mandling, Schladming, Gröbming and Mitterberg-Sankt Martin will operate.

SCHLADMING-DACHSTEIN. The line is also with the new shuttle bus on the Stoderzinc coordinated to enable a quick and comfortable change for the ascent to what is currently “the most beautiful place in Austria”.

Experience quality increased

The new Summer bus line is also in the Schladming-Dachstein leisure card as well as Sommercard included. “Sustainable mobility is becoming more and more important and we have long relied on initiatives and impulses to promote public transport,” explains Mathias Schattleitner, Managing Director of the Schladming-Dachstein tourism region. “With projects such as the summer bus line, a further step has now been taken towards reducing individual transport and promoting sustainability in the region. At the same time, we are also increasing the quality of experience for locals and guests in the region.”

The new Summer bus as an extension of the 900 lines, provides a strong connection compared to the previous connections, which were restricted outside of school hours and thus especially during the holidays compression of the timetable with many stations in hourly rate.

For example, the timetable gap on Sundays and public holidays between Schladming and Gröbming now in summer twelve links filled during the day. Along the route there are numerous excursion options for holiday guests and locals, such as the Steiner1888 Wollwelt, the Pichl leisure park, the Schladming adventure pool, the Planai and Hauser Kaibling summer mountain railways, the Haus im Ennstal adventure pool, the Aich leisure lake complex, the shopping town of Gröbming with a connection to the Stoderzinken and adventure park Gröbming as well as Mitterberg-Sankt Martin at the foot of the mighty Grimming.

Common project

The “Summer Bus” project is backed by the region’s tourism association as the initiator, the six municipalities of Schladming, Haus im Ennstal, Aich, Pruggern, Gröbming and Mitterberg Sankt-Martin and the province of Styria. The total budget for the new sustainability project is around 150,000 euros, with one third being financed by the municipalities involved and two thirds by the province of Styria.
