Pfizer has conducted a new study to find out how effective the third dose of the vaccine is on the body and what protection it offers. Thus, according to the study data, the administration of the third dose of vaccine at six months after the second restores the protection against SARS Cov2 infection to 95%.
The data come from a study done in Israel, reports realeamedicala.net. The research was done between July 1 and August 30, when Sars-Cov-2 Delta infections were on the rise.
The data, which was submitted by the company to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is the basis for requesting a booster dose of Pfizer vaccine in the US, administered intramuscularly approximately 6 months after the second dose, in people over 16 years.
The study involved 300 people aged between 19 and 55 years. One-third of the participants were overweight and one-third were obese, according to the documents.
The results of the studies were made public by the FDA in the context in which the Biden administration is pressuring to authorize booster doses for the general population as early as next week, according to CNBC.
