“New Study Shows Promise for Improving Motor Skills Recovery in Stroke Patients with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)”

Hundreds of patients affected by a stroke can participate in a major study into a new method to improve their motor skills recovery. The technique is called transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and comes down to stimulating brain areas by means of a “staff-shaped device with a magnetic coil in it,” explains UMC Utrecht. A relatively small-scale study of the university hospital, with sixty patients, has already yielded promising results.
