New Study Shows Exercise Can Reduce Risk of Hypertension in Adulthood

Scientists from the University of California at San Francisco published the results of a study they conducted over 30 years involving 5,100 people. Experts have studied how physical activity affects the development of hypertension in adulthood.

They analyzed the vital activity of subjects aged 18 to 40 years, and then studied their health indicators at the age of 40 to 60 years. Experts have concluded that to prevent hypertension, it is necessary to exercise at least five hours a week at a young age.

It is noteworthy that doctors recommend 150 minutes of moderate or 75 minutes of intense physical activity per week to eliminate problems with blood pressure in the future. The study showed that this recommendation should be increased by approximately two times.

Intense exercise is not necessary; home fitness is sufficient.

Thus, just one hour of fitness a day is enough to significantly reduce the risk of blood pressure problems in adulthood. Intense training is also not necessary; it is enough to do “light” sports at home or on the street.

The study also highlighted the importance of other ways to protect against hypertension, including reducing salt intake, controlling weight, limiting alcohol, and quitting smoking, the American Journal of Preventive Medicine reports.

Let us remind you that earlier scientists found an unexpected way to reduce headaches.
