New Study Reveals Coffee’s Potential Protective Effect Against Alzheimer’s Disease

Scientists from the University of Verona (Italy) came to the conclusion that coffee can protect a person from Alzheimer’s disease.

This is reported Express.

The new study sought to determine whether the compounds in espresso could, in vitro, prevent the aggregation of tau proteins, which are associated with dementia. According to experts, coffee appears to have protective properties against neurodegenerative disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease.

The scientists first prepared shots of espresso from store-bought beans, after which they decided to reproduce their chemical composition using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. They then isolated and studied the effects of caffeine, trigonelin, the flavonoid genistein, and theobromine. The latter compound, by the way, was also found in chocolate.

Next, the scientists incubated the components, as well as the espresso extract, along with a truncated form of the tau protein, for up to 40 hours. It turned out that as the concentration of espresso extract, caffeine or genistein increased, the protein fibrils decreased. The extract showed the most impressive result.

According to scientists, there is a need for more research. However, thanks to these preliminary results, it is possible to achieve success in the search and creation of other biologically active compounds against neurodegenerative disorders.

Previously, experts talked about a popular sport that increases the risk of dementia.

Cursor reported on four types of foods to avoid when losing weight.

In addition, doctors called the most useful water.

Scientists also talked about activities that significantly reduce the risk of developing Alzheimer’s.
