New Study Confirms Stephen Hawking’s Theory on Black Hole Evaporation

JAKARTA – Stephen Hawking’s famous theory which states that the entire universe is destined to evaporate into a black hole, is now starting to be proven true.

According to the journal Physical Review Letters, quoted from LiveScience, in 1974, Hawking proposed that black holes eventually evaporate by losing what is now known as hawking radiation.

Now, a new study has found that black holes will eventually vaporize due to peddling radiation, but the event horizon isn’t as important as previously thought.

New theoretical research from Radboud University Michael Wondrak, Walter van Suijlekom, and Heino Falcke has shown that Stephen Hawking was partly right about black holes.

“This study was published June 2 in the leading journal Physical Review Letters from the American Physical Society (APS),” the page said, quoted from NDTV, Tuesday (13/6/2023).

The study also said that this radiation is also caused by gravity and the curvature of space-time. This means that all large objects in the universe, such as stellar remnants, will eventually disappear.

“In this new study, researchers at Radboud University revisited this process and investigated whether the presence of an event horizon is really that important.”

They combined techniques from physics, astronomy and mathematics to examine what happens when such pairs of particles are created around a black hole.

This study shows that new particles can also be created far beyond this horizon and the presence of new radiation.
