Pensioners are to receive new aid from the state. Thus, elderly people who receive a monthly pension below the threshold of 1,500 lei will be helped. The news comes in the context of recent price increases that have affected their purchasing power.
Which category of pensioners will receive an additional pension aid
“Then, in addition to the 200 lei that the man will receive in addition, he also receives those one-off aids, which are very clearly stipulated, that financial aid that is given according to the amount of the pension, and we are talking here about that amount up to 1500, between 1500 and 2000 lei and, respectively, between 2000 and 3000 lei”, explained the head of the Pension House.

The state comes to the aid of Romanians with low pensions. Emergency Ordinance no. 168/2022 provides that pensioners with pensions below 3,000 lei per month will receive financial support in the form of two payments.
“I want to specify, 500 lei in January and another 500 lei in October, because this financial aid is granted in two equal installments, respectively in January and in October,” added Daniel Baciu.
Already, the first installment of money came in January, and the next one is to come in October. This help is structured in three categories.

What additional benefits do pensioners receive?
1. For those who have pensions up to 1500 lei, the aid is 1000 lei, but it is divided into two installments, one in January and one in October.
2. For those with a pension between 1,500 and 2,500 lei, the aid is 800 lei, i.e. 400 lei in January and 400 lei in October.
3. For those with a pension between 2,500 and 3,000 lei, the aid will be 600 lei, money divided in January and October, 300 lei each.
“So this threshold has been reached because the budget is sustainable only if we have reached this amount of 3,000 lei.
We also have to take into account the budgetary realities and the income we collect from social insurance contributions to the state social insurance budget”, answered Daniel Baciu when he was asked why no help was given to those with pensions over 3,000 lei.
