(Press release) In mid-September, the well-known pianist and festival director Anny Hwang will return to the Saarland to give concerts at the invitation of the Beethoven-Plus-X Festival after her upcoming studio recording / production at SWR2 in Baden-Baden. Despite the unfavorable conditions in the Corona period, the Dudweiler Musikförderverein HA Multikulturelles Orchester eV, which initiated the anniversary celebration for Beethoven’s birthday in 2020, would like to continue to cheerfully support the culture in Saarland and cordially invite all music lovers to take part!
The concert evening with Anny Hwang and the renowned American double bass player Prof. Greg Cohen will take place on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at 7 p.m. in the LHS Saarbrücken in the Dudweiler Bürgerhaus.
Afterwards, both musicians will be guests in Merchweiler in the Great Dome Hall of the historic town hall of Wemmetsweiler on September 19, 2021 at 5 p.m. – according to their concert title: “Historic Atmospheres”.
The American jazz bassist Greg Cohen and the classical concert pianist Anny Hwang combine their musical styles and take the guests on a journey to America, to European concert music and music from all over the world. Works by George Gershwin will be presented in a new guise and many surprises can be expected in Saarland.
The restart events are live concerts. Everyone who misses the “real” concert attendance should make a note of these dates and not miss the opportunity.
Due to the Corona Protection Ordinance, fewer guests are admitted than under normal circumstances and only an early ticket purchase guarantees a seat. Admission costs € 20.00 and € 15.00 (reduced).

Background to the two artists:
The Californian played alongside numerous stars such as John Zorn, Tom Waits, Ornette Coleman, Woody Allen, David Byrne, Elvis Costello and Bob Dylan. He moves between jazz, rock, classical, big band swing and country music. In August and September 2006 he was artistic director of the Century of Song concert series as part of the Ruhrtriennale. Cohen has been Head of the Bass Department since 2009 Jazz Institute Berlin.
The German-born soloist with Asian roots, Anny Hwang, grew up in Saarland. The enthusiasm and positive response with first prizes in competitions and scholarships confirmed her vocation as a musician. In the course of her career she has received invitations from home and abroad from well-known orchestras, including the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra or China National Symphony Orchestra Beijing, Taipei Symphony Orchestra, Dortmund Philharmonic.
In addition to making music, she advocates interdisciplinary work between the art branches with artists from different genres. One of their main projects is called “AnnyTime”.
