According to the website, development has come to a complete standstill, and two of the top people on the game are said to have been fired. Aspyr Media – which is responsible for the game – is now trying to figure out its next move, and the studio is reportedly looking for completely different projects.

Sources with knowledge of the situation say that the halt in development must have come as a surprise. The team had recently completed a demo for the game and were optimistic about the road ahead. Then came the message from higher up that the work was still not good enough, and the following week both the design manager and the art manager were dismissed and the game was put on hold.

The use of time and money is said to be among the reasons behind the decision. Originally, the goal would have been to launch the game in late 2022, but those who have spoken to Bloomberg claim that 2025 would be more realistic.

Aspyr has not yet commented on the matter.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake ble first unveiled in September. The plan was to build the 2013 game from the ground up, to recreate the classic RPG experience with modern graphics and features.

The sequel to Fallen Order is coming next year.
