The Immigration Department pointed out that due to the early suspension of service at the Early Card Replacement Centre, some Hong Kong residents born in 1962 or 1963 may not be able to apply for a new ID card within the previously announced application deadline. Due to the epidemic and the progress of the card replacement program, The amendment orders an extension of the period for Hong Kong residents born in the two years to apply for a new identity card, and announces a timetable for the replacement of Hong Kong residents born from 1973 to 1976, 2005 to 2007 and 2012 to 2018. As for the renewal timetable for Hong Kong residents born between 1970 and 1972, which has been announced earlier, it remains unchanged. The deadline for application is April 30 this year.

The Immigration Department urges those who have never made an appointment to log on to the website (Click here), use the mobile application of the Immigration Department or call the 24-hour telephone appointment service hotline 2121 1234 to make an appointment for renewal procedures. Applicants can also pre-fill the form when making an appointment online or mobile application to reduce the waiting time.
