It seems like Weval is overflowing with inspiration, because where the duo released two EPs late last year and early this year, they’re already there with a new single. Or so it seems, because the new “Never Stay For Love” has been on the way for a while. The song was born when the duo went to Germany some time ago, together with Eefje de Visser, on vacation. Until recently, finishing apparently didn’t work, but now it’s clear that Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers made the right decision by taking their time.
Since “Never Stay For Love” is often in line with Weval’s previous works, it is above all Eefje de Visser who forms the most surprising factor in the song. We hear it in English for once, but it still sounds just as dreamy. The perfect support for the dark purple synth sounds that carry the song, but are also occasionally interrupted by a deep bass. In this way the individual ripples, while a flow accelerator also passes here and there. No big explosion in the chorus, just a song where the vibes are central. And that’s still what Weval does best.
