The symbiosis of Dutch texts, electronic sounds and pop turns out to be an ideal ingredient for monokimono’s recipe for success. The band, worn by Ben Tanghe from Antwerp, will soon release its new EP You me and works together with a range of Belgian breakthrough talent, such as puntjudith on Vic Willems. This summer monokimono invited musician friend Willem Ardui for a collab. Willem is a producer and known as fifty percent of the hip-hop phenomenon blackwave., but he also gets satisfaction from his Dutch-language solo project under his own name. Together they dived into a black, empty and echoing concert hall in Antwerp and let their imaginations run wild.
“Free fall” is the result of their thoughtful head work and sharp handiwork. With the song, monokimono and Willem Ardui try to fuse their common heart for Dutch-language electro-pop together in a dark cloak. Ben and Willem philosophize about the metaphor of the black hole and free fall. They symbolize emotions of infinity, depth and despondency. The electronic tones that position themselves more and more during the song make the single an example of beautiful Dutch-language electro-pop.
On December 3rd, monokimono will release the full EP You me from. Together with the guest musicians of the EP, Ben Tanghe will go to Trix on December 4th You me present live.
