The start of the new Bundesliga-season was a success, now Borussia Dortmund wants to follow up: in the away game against Werder Bremen on Saturday afternoon (3.30 p.m., Sky). 12:19 pm: Sahin talks about the summer transfer window before the transfer deadline closes on Friday (8 p.m.). “If the transfer window closes and our squad stays the same, then I have no problem with that at all. It’s not very likely that anything will happen on the new signing side. On paper, it looks a bit thin on the left and center back positions. But we have many options to solve that.”

12:17 pm: The Champions League draw takes place on Thursday evening – what does the BVB coach think? “I’m really looking forward to the draw. Knowing who you’re playing against, where you’re playing – that’s really cool.” And does Sahin have a dream draw? Real Madrid or Liverpool “would be cool,” says Sahin, referring to his former clubs.”

12.16 pm: Niklas Süle and Julian Brandt were still not nominated for the DFB team. Sahin’s opinion on this: “I am happy that we have five boys here. I would have been happy if they were there too. But the national coach’s decision has to be accepted and respected.” Sahin is very happy with the duo. “If the boys continue to deliver, they will return to this circle.” He did not have to console Brandt and Süle.

12.15 p.m.: What does Sahin think about the upcoming opponent? “They are very well-rehearsed, the coach (Ole Werner, ed.) has been there for a long time. They often play a similar system, the processes are clear – no matter who the opponent is. They want to keep three points in their stadium.”

BVB coach Sahin likes to think back to his time at Werder Bremen

12:14 pm: Sahin on his relationship with sports director Sebastian Kehl and sports director Lars Ricken: “I have a good and open relationship with both of them. We discuss a lot, sometimes we have different ideas. All discussions are valuable – that’s not just something I say. I have the feeling that both of them, as my bosses, are behind me. It’s fun.”

12:12 pm: Sahin talks about his past in Bremen. He still has “a lot” of connections with Bremen. “It was a great two years.” He got to know a great family there. “It was worth it just for the acquaintance.” He still has good contact with many people from the club today.

12:10 pm: Sahin is asked whether it is no longer easy for talented players at BVB. “I have seen a lot of talented players make their mark here,” he replies, referring to Bellingham, Gittens and Sancho. “We give the players a stage at the highest level. We are one of the leading clubs. Maybe it is even easier to make it with us.”

12:07 pm: Sahin talks about the departures of Moukoko and Özcan. He was unable to reach Moukoko by phone and therefore sent a message. He wished Özcan all the best in a personal conversation. “He behaved impeccably. I wish him success and that he gets his minutes on the pitch.” The same applies to Moukoko: “He has to laugh, he has to play, he has to score goals.”

BVB: Sahin on Maximilian Beier’s chances of being in the starting eleven

12:06 pm: Can Maximilian Beier expect to make his first start for BVB on Saturday? He is not far away from it, emphasised Sahin. “He will play many more games for Borussia Dortmund from the start.”

12:04 pm: Sahin answers a question about Couto and Guirassy: “It’s nothing big. We would have liked to send him to the national team. I hope that he can get back into the game in the week before the game against Heidenheim. With Serhou, we are increasing the workload every day. The international break comes at the right time for him.”

12:02 pm: The first question is about personnel. New signing Yan Couto will miss the game in Bremen due to a “minor injury,” explains Sahin. The Brazilian will therefore also spend the international break in Dortmund. Serhou Guirassy is not yet an issue for Bremen after his partial return to team training. Otherwise, all players are fit.
