The Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo is best known in Switzerland because of its advertising figure Roger Federer. Uniqlo does not yet have a store or online shop. The company has long said that it is planning to launch in Switzerland. Now it could soon happen.
The company’s official Tiktok account says that something new is coming. Uniqlo asks the community where the next shop will be. When users write in the comments that it is Zurich, Uniqlo applauds.
“I’ll donate a kidney if it’s Zurich”
Almost everyone is expecting the next shop to open in Switzerland and is therefore absolutely thrilled. Only a few are expecting other locations such as Austria or the Czech Republic.
“I’ve waited years for this,” writes user “Annina.” “I’ll donate a kidney if it’s Zurich,” writes user “Chloe.” Others are asking the company not to play with their feelings and disappoint them now. In any case, the company’s responses to comments are fueling speculation (see photo gallery).
Exceptional store concept
There are thousands of Uniqlo stores worldwide, mostly in prime locations in big cities. The stores often have a lot to offer architecturally. In Paris, for example, the company entered into a cooperation with the Louvre Museum.
Will there be a store in Zurich like the one in Japan? There, the new concept includes atypical elements for a store, such as a garden area for relaxing, a café, a children’s playground or even a workshop. An inquiry to the company has so far remained unanswered.
