ANT ANNOUNCES HIS CANDIDACY. BEZAS

What has been rumored for some time, namely that Antonis Bezas will be a candidate for mayor of Igoumenitsa, is now a reality. The former deputy minister will announce his intention to run for the municipality of Igoumenitsa next Sunday in a press conference to which he has invited all the local media.
In the invitation, he even reveals the name of the faction he will lead and it is none other than “Igoumenitsa Mazi”.
With the candidacy of Mr. Beza, the puzzle of the October municipal elections in Igoumenitsa is now largely completed, as Yiannis Lolos, Panagiotis Dais, Doris Dimas are already at the starting point and the only question mark is what SYRIZA will do in the end and if he will choose to put down his own faction, which is still not certain as the national elections have put such decisions far behind the party of Alexis Tsipras.
The fact that there will definitely be two “right-wing” factions may mean a lot, but it may also mean nothing. Certainly, however, the new conditions that are being formed move the scenario of the municipal election away from the first Sunday, even if the required percentage is now 43% and not 50% as it was in the 2023 elections.
Mr. Lolos begins this battle with the experience of managing the municipality and all the privileges that the fact that he will be acting mayor until the October polls can give him, but also the normal wear and tear that a mayor with several years of administration in the his back.
Panagiotis Dais, after doing his “farming” as a municipal councilor in the seats of the opposition, decided to lead his own faction, today he has demonstrated a fairly good mobility with contacts throughout the municipality as well as clear views on the open issues of Igoumenitsa and he hopes that he will be able to unite the centre-left space in the event that he is elected mayor.
Mr. Bezas starts last in the election race, but he certainly has the political ability to put together a very good ballot, while his presence in the public with various interventions was noticeable in the previous period.
Be that as it may, the candidacy of Panagiotis Dais, as well as that of Antonis Bezas against that of the current mayor, “upgrade” the quality of the political battle that will be fought for Igoumenitsa with the municipality only winning to be able to get out of it .
