S with the Star of David, with which the Jews were marked during the Second World War, dawned on the shop window of a bar in Sofia today. It all started on Saturday, when three “Vazrazhdane” sympathizers entered the establishment, looking for an explanation as to why foreign, not Bulgarian, flags were hung on the walls, reports NOVA.
According to the owners, the Argentine flag initially provoked the men. They were not served and left. However, then a sign was put up that “Vazrazhdane” sympathizers are no longer wanted in the bar.

“Even if there was a dispute beforehand, regarding some flags or something like that, this cannot be a reason for an establishment in the center of Sofia to adopt and present a fascist ideology. Just imagine if there were no “Revival” sympathizers written on this sign, but Jews, let’s say, or Turks, for example,” commented party MP Deyan Nikolov.
Therefore, a few hours later, a larger group, which included MP Slavcho Krumov, returned to the establishment to seek an explanation for the inscription. On the same day, a screening of a film, part of the Sofia Pride festival, was also the object of the “Revival” action.
“People have gathered peacefully to exercise their constitutionally guaranteed rights, which were trampled on by unfriendly citizens”, says Denitsa Ljubenova, chairperson of “LGBTI Action”.
According to “Vazrazhdane”, the film propagated pedophilia. This provoked their decision to stop broadcasting. The film “Close” has already been screened several times in Bulgaria without causing controversy.

The Bulgarian Helsinki Committee saw an attempt at political PR.
“The explanation is simple. It is related to the upcoming pride and the desire of the “Vazrazhdane” party to gather support on a homophobic basis,” Krasimir Kanev, chairman of the BHK, is emphatic.
