A British MP from Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Conservative Party has been arrested on suspicion of rape, abuse of power and other sexual crimes, British media reported as The Guardian Tuesday evening. The MP is also asked to stay away from the House of Commons pending the investigation.
It is not clear which party member of Johnson is involved. He is said to have committed the offenses in London between 2002 and 2009, the newspaper reports The Sun.
The first accusations against the MP are said to have been made in 2020. The Conservative Party declined to comment further until the investigation is completed.
Johnson’s ‘Tories’ have recently been more often weighed down by (sex) scandals. For example, many Britons are outraged by the parties that politicians organized during coronalockdowns while residents were asked not to invite friends at home.
At the end of April, another party member of Johnson was forced to resign after he was caught watching porn in parliament.
At the end of 2021 there was already a fuss about the Conservative Party. Then Owen Paterson was ordered to leave because he had raised hundreds of thousands of pounds in exchange for lobbying for various companies. That cost the Tories the seat in North Shropshire in by-elections, which they had held for 115 years.
