New satellite images captured Russian military activity

New satellite images show new Russian military activity near Ukraine’s northeastern border, according to the American satellite image company Maxar.

The company believes, among other things, that they have made observations of several new field deployments of military equipment.

Several armored vehicles and soldiers leave a marching area and move into forest areas and over fields between 14 to 30 kilometers from the border between Russia and Ukraine, the company writes in an email.

– Most of the combat and support departments in Soloti have left the area. Extensive ruts and some columns of armored equipment can be seen in the area, Maxar states.

There is also activity near Valuyki about 15 kilometers north of the border and new deployments northwest of Belgorod, which is about 30 kilometers from the border. Much of the equipment is deployed near a forest area, while other company-sized departments are deployed on farms and in industrial areas.

– The recent activity shows a change in the pattern for the previously observed deployments of tanks, armored vehicles, artillery and other equipment, writes Maxar.

Of the more than 150,000 Russian troops estimated by the United States and NATO in the border regions, about half are ready to fight and can attack within 48 hours, according to an official US source.

Russia denies plans to attack its neighbor to the west, but wants guarantees that Ukraine will not join NATO and that Western countries will withdraw their forces from Eastern Europe, a claim that is rejected by the West.
