The State Headquarters for the Promotion of Virtue and Abstinence from Vice and its head were subject to restrictions.
The UK has imposed new sanctions on Iran for violating women’s rights. This is stated in the message of the British Foreign Office on Wednesday, March 8.
Sanctions have been imposed against the Iranian State Headquarters to promote virtue and refrain from vice. Also under the restriction was its head, Syed Mohammad Saleh Hashemi Golpayegani.
The headquarters, which is one of the state structures of Iran, participates in determining the norms of behavior in society and ensures that they are observed.
The British Foreign Office noted that the Headquarters employees are forcing Iranian women to wear hijabs, including by force.
The state structure is responsible for violating the right to freedom and security, as well as the right to freedom of expression, by establishing a mandatory dress code for women and monitoring its observance, including through the unjustified use of force against women.
Earlier it was reported that the EU imposed sanctions against the Russian military for violence against women in Ukraine.
