The Irish low-cost airline Ryanair is launching three new summer routes from Linz to Alicante and Bari and from Salzburg to Alicante.

Ryanair, Europe’s No. 1 airline, today (14 November) announced its 2025 summer schedule, which includes three exciting new routes from Linz and Salzburg, giving Austrian residents and visitors even more choice at the lowest fares in Europe next summer. From May 2025, passengers from Linz and Salzburg can enjoy direct, inexpensive flights to other destinations in the Mediterranean. These three new routes once again reflect Ryanair’s continued commitment to expanding tourism, creating jobs and growing in Austria.

Linz Airport will offer three S25 routes to London, Alicante and Bari. The two new destinations are Alicante and Bari, each with four weekly flights. Salzburg Airport will offer two routes to London and Alicante (new) with a total of 12 weekly flights.

The introduction of these three new routes from Austria to Alicante and Bari will promote local tourism, create new jobs and support regional economic growth in Upper Austria and Salzburg.

Austria is one of the few European countries that has still not reached its pre-Corona pandemic passenger volumes due to the high air traffic tax (€12), expensive airports and the very high prices of the Lufthansa subsidiary AUA. Ryanair therefore once again calls on the new Austrian government to follow the example of the Italian regions and the Swedish government and abolish the harmful and outdated aviation tax in order to make Austria more competitive and attractive for airlines like Ryanair and thus attract new routes, more traffic and growth promote what Austria needs to fully restore the traffic volume from before the Corona crisis, which most other EU countries have already achieved.

To celebrate the launch of these three new S25 routes from Linz and Salzburg, Ryanair has announced a three-day seat sale with low fares, available exclusively on www.ryanair.com.

Andreas Gruber from Ryanair said:

As Europe’s No. 1 airline, we are pleased to offer our Austrian customers even more choice and lower fares. With the addition of Alicante and Bari from Linz and Alicante from Salzburg to our 2025 Austrian summer schedule with over 90 routes, Ryanair is ensuring that Austrian residents and visitors can enjoy lower fares and even more travel options to fantastic Mediterranean holiday destinations. Our expanded route offering from Linz and Salzburg demonstrates our ongoing commitment to Austria’s federal states, improving connectivity, promoting tourism and creating jobs. We are very pleased to be able to offer our Austrian customers/visitors more growth and even more affordable flights.

Ryanair is once again calling on the new Austrian government to abolish the prohibitive €12 aviation tax and pursue cost-cutting measures to promote Austrian tourism and economic growth. Ryanair can continue to increase traffic in Austria over the next five years – but only if the government abolishes this harmful aviation tax, as the Italian and Swedish governments have already done, and makes Austria a competitive destination again.
