French customs authorities have seized the yacht “Amore Vero” belonging to a Russian oligarch. This is stated by the country’s Minister of Economy Bruno Le Maire.
The yacht belongs to Igor Setsjin. He is a close ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and is president and chairman of the state-owned Russian oil company Rosneft.
Following the outbreak of the war, the EU has imposed a number of strong sanctions on Russia, which also affects Russian oligarchs. It is these sanctions that give France the opportunity to take action against Setsin’s vessels. It is now at the quay at the La Ciotat shipyard near Marseille.
Setsjin has previously been nicknamed “Darth Vader” in the press and is considered one of Putin’s more conservative advisers.

In Norway, the Russian luxury yacht “Ragnar” is still at the quay in Narvik. On February 23, police, the coastguard and the customs service took action against the yacht owned by former KGB officer Vladimir Strzhalkovsky – also a close friend of Putin.
