New Rules! Facebook Removes Fake Posts About Vaccines Causing Autism

Jakarta, Selular.ID – Facebook will clean its platform of hoax posts about vaccines that can cause autism. That way, its users cannot easily spread information related to the virus that is spreading in almost all regions of the world.

Topics to be removed by the company led by Mark Zuckerberg include that COVID-19 is man-made, vaccines are not effective at preventing the diseases they protect against, it is safer to catch the disease than getting the vaccine, and vaccines are dangerous, poisonous, or cause autism.

Facebook said it would soon enforce this policy with a focus on groups, pages and accounts sharing content from a new list of rejected claims. The company also said it would consider removing the source of the posts completely if they became repeat offenders.

Although Facebook provides fairly strict rules, the company claims that they only enforce these rules during the COVID-19 emergency. The company’s hope with the new rules is to silence the people in the anti-vaccine movement on Facebook.

But on the other hand, the policies that this social network wants to implement are reaping pros and cons. Some users are worried that later on, information that is actually valid will be included in the list of violations, making users confused to distinguish between them.

TheVerge reported that it had contacted Facebook regarding these concerns, and Facebook said it would learn more and make information adjustments to answer users’ doubts.

It doesn’t stop there, Facebook also said that they are continuing to improve searches on both platforms to bring up more relevant and authoritative results when users search for something related to COVID-19.

To support the Covid-19 vaccine movement, Facebook will display links to information about vaccines as well as to register or get vaccinations at the COVID-19 Information Center. Not only on the Facebook platform, they also plan to bring this feature to other social media platforms, namely Instagram.

In order to show its support for the Covid 19 Vaccination, Facebook will also provide assistance in the form of $ 120 million in advertising credits.

The support is to help health ministries, non-governmental organizations and UN agencies disseminate COVID-19 vaccine information to a number of billions of Facebook users around the world.
