New Rules Again, Quarantine from Overseas So 10 or 7 Days

The government held a limited meeting which one of the decisions changed the time quarantine from abroad. Quarantine from abroad is now 10 days and 7 days.

The coordinator of PPKM for Java and Bali, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, conveyed the results of the average through a video broadcast on the Setpres YouTube channel, Monday (3/1/2022). The Ratas was led directly by President Joko Widodo.

In his presentation, Luhut said the figures related to COVID-19 were improving. Luhut also said that there were 2 days where there were no cases of Corona death in Indonesia or zero.

“We have just finished the meeting led by Mr. President. All the numbers are improving, the first one maybe two days later, there were no deaths in this COVID case, namely the 26th and the 2nd. So zero death,” said Luhut.

Luhut then conveyed the changes to the quarantine time rules. The quarantine rules were previously valid for 10 or 14 days.

“Secondly, it was decided that the quarantine was 14 days to 10 days, and 10 days to 7 days,” said Luhut.

To note, the 10 or 14 day quarantine rules apply to citizens from abroad. Time difference quarantine 10 or 14 days depending on the country of origin of the traveler.

Previously, the 10 or 14 day quarantine was regulated in the Decree of the Head of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force Number 1 of 2022 concerning Entry Points, Quarantine Places, and RT-PCR Obligations for Indonesian Citizens Traveling Overseas. The decree was signed as of January 1, 2022.

Indonesian citizens traveling from abroad are required to quarantine for 14 days if the country of origin of arrival meets the following criteria:

a. Has confirmed community transmission of a new variant of SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.529;
b. Geographically adjacent to the country of community transmission of cases of the new variant of SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.529; and
c. The number of confirmed cases of SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.529 is more than 10,000 cases.

Meanwhile, countries that do not have the above criteria are required to undergo a period of quarantine for 10 days.

In addition, the decree stipulates provisions for travelers who can occupy a centralized quarantine area, including:

a. Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) who return to Indonesia to stay at least 14 (fourteen) days in Indonesia;
b. Students who return to Indonesia after completing education or carrying out study assignments abroad;
c. Government employees who return to Indonesia after carrying out official trips abroad; and
d. Indonesian representatives in international competitions or festivals.
