New round of free city tours from the municipality of Ioanniton

With an interesting “journey” in the footsteps of recent history, the program of themed Sunday walks “Learning about my city” opens for 2023, organized by the Tourism Department of the municipality of Ioannito.

The thread of the narrative, with the help of experienced and specialized guides, will begin to unravel from the alleys of the Castle to the Old Market, the Jewish Synagogue, the mosque of Aslan Pasha, the monasteries of the Island, the Perama Cave and the Ligiades. With images from the city of legends, arts and sciences, letters and commerce.

The first route, on May 28, includes a tour of the Kastropolis (Municipal Ethnographic Museum, Byzantine Museum, Jewish Synagogue, Silversmithing Museum, Fethiye Mosque, etc.).

On Sunday, June 11, there will be a guided tour of the Island (Museum of Ali Pasha and the Revolutionary Period, Monastery of Agios Nikolaos of Philanthropines, Monastery of Panagia of Eleusis, etc.).

For June 25, the program foresees a visit to the Perama Cave and then a transition to the martyr village of Ligiades, where there will be a geographical and historical tour, overlooking the Basin.

The participants’ entry to the program’s visitable areas, as well as their bus travel, are free of charge.
