Three police officers were injured when protesters threw stones and set off fireworks in the center of the city of Rochester, according to the TV station ABC, citing the emergency services. The police used pepper spray and tear gas and arrested eleven people. In total, more than 2000 people took part in the protests.

According to ABC, there were also counter-demonstrations. At least two cars drove into a group of people. Videos were circulating on social media showing the driver of a car spraying a substance and driving a man.
The trigger for the three-day protests in Rochester was a brutal police operation in which a black man died. Seven officers were suspended from duty on Thursday. The incident itself occurred in March.
A video released on Wednesday shows how several police officers arrest a 41-year-old man who is running naked and apparently under the influence of drugs. They pull a kind of hood over him to protect them from being spat on and press his head on the asphalt. The man died in the hospital a week later.
