Aretha Franklin, Queen of Soul before the eternal, internationally renowned superstar, composer, singer, but also civil rights activist, her life is brought to the screen in front of the camera of Liesl Tommy, first African-American director to receive a Tony Awards nomination. The excellent Jennifer Hudson (Oscar winner for her role in “Dreamgirls”), singer, actress and close friend of the artist, will embody this music icon.
The film will follow the career ascent ofAretha Franklin, from his beginnings as an altar boy in his father’s church to his international renown. Finally, the cast will also meet Forest Whitaker, Tate Donovan, Marlon Wayans, Tituss Burgess and Mary J. Blige. Just that! “Respect” is certainly one of the most anticipated biopics of the year!
