The new residential quarter in the publishers’ quarter in Darmstadt is taking shape. The first 194 apartments on the former “Nutrient Angel” site are ready.
The first part of one of the currently largest residential construction projects in Darmstadt has been completed after two years of construction. Six point buildings – i.e. buildings with an internal staircase core – and two building blocks with a total of 194 two- to four-room apartments as well as 213 underground parking spaces have been built on the 11,500-square-meter former nutrient-angel property in the Berliner Allee and Haardtring area. 49 apartments are publicly funded. All houses were built according to the KfW Efficiency House Standard 55, as announced by the Mainz MAG project development company.
On Thursday, MAG handed over the area to the new owner Commerz Real. This, a subsidiary of Commerzbank, takes on the initial letting. Lord Mayor Jochen Partsch (Greens) praised the new residential area in the publishers’ quarter as “an example of contemporary urban residential development in the existing stock”. It is well mixed and designed for different incomes. The buildings on the second property, which MAG also acquired in 2016, are still under construction. A total of 13 new buildings with 684 apartments and micro-apartments as well as around 3500 square meters of office and commercial space are being built on 24,000 square meters. It is the first MAG project in Darmstadt.
