New rescue station for the Black Forest mountain rescue service – SWR Aktuell

The Black Forest mountain rescue service gets a new rescue station. Work has started in Hinterzarten (Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district). But where does the money for the million dollar project come from?

A garage in Hinterzarten, in which just such an emergency vehicle and other equipment fit, was the starting point of the Black Forest mountain rescue service in Hinterzarten. From there, the rescue workers went out to rescue injured hikers in summer or skiers in winter. And all on a voluntary basis. Now it should finally come: the urgently needed rescue station, near the train station in Hinterzarten. Work on it started on Monday.

There is still no money for the new rescue station

But who is financing the project, for which about 1.5 million are planned? Around 1.2 million come from the state of Baden-Württemberg, the municipality of Hinterzarten contributed the property and 50,000 euros. The other six communities, which also benefit from the rescue service, have provided a one-off total of 25,000 euros; this results in an average of around 4,100 euros per municipality.

For Adrian Probst, the state chairman of the Black Forest Mountain Rescue Service, the new rescue center is a step into the future, but it is also associated with financial insecurity.

“With increasing building materials and raw materials that are difficult to obtain, it is also a risk to a large extent.”

He calls it “great luck” that all mountain rescue services in the Black Forest are standing together and have formed a pot of money. “If the worst comes to the worst, we can also use this pot as a cushion,” said Probst.

As of now, the money will not be enough. You want to adjust and calculate with a sharp pen, said Johannes Albrecht, the mayor of Feldberg-Altglashütten. His municipality donated 10,000 euros to the project. He relies on further coordination with the state or the regional council of Freiburg.
