Andreas Tiemann, head of the game technology of the handball association Westphalia and chairman of the game committee of the 3rd league, remains calm. “The 2G + regulation applies until January 12th,” says the East Westphalian, “we have to wait and see what happens after that.”

District area – 2G + means a heavy mortgage for handball. Up-to-date tests before every training session and game, and from an official test center at that – if the conditions remain, it will be difficult to keep the game going. “As far as the 3rd league or the upper league is concerned, something like that shouldn’t be a problem,” says Tiemann, making the clubs responsible.

At the lower level, however, Tiemann also fears a long-term effort that the clubs will hardly be able to afford. “We will watch things. It is also no problem to suspend two game days in the regional league and add them at the end of the season. We deliberately planned generously, ”says Tiemann. Many clubs should now reduce their training until January 12th.

Third division club SGSH, for which the season continues on January 15th, will hardly be able to afford this, for example. The SGSH has already planned the first test of the new year at TV Korschenbroich for January 8th.
