New Report Shows Uptake of Adapted Covid-19 Vaccine Doses Among Age Groups in Spain

46 percent of the population over 60 years of age and 64.3 percent of those over 80 years of age have received the adapted dose of the Covid-19 vaccine from September 2023 to January 24, 2024, as revealed by the report ‘GIV COVID-19: Comprehensive management of Covid-19 vaccination’ published this Monday by the Ministry of Health.

Within the group aged 60 to 69, only 32.3 percent have received the adapted dose, which represents a total of 1,820,231 people. And, in the age group of 70 to 79 years, 52.17 percent have received the adapted dose this season, which represents 2,121,609 people.

However, the percentage of people vaccinated this season between 60 and 69 years old does not exceed 10 percent in some communities such as Ceuta and Melilla.

Compared to the last Health report, dated December 15, 2023, the percentage of the population aged 60 to 69 that has received the dose of the adapted vaccine has increased by 4.3 percent, going from 28 percent cent to 32.3 percent.

To date, 92.6 percent of the Spanish population over 12 years of age has received the complete Covid-19 vaccine schedule and 92.8 percent have been vaccinated. In total, 109,476,518 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been delivered, but 105,872,140 have been administered. The total number of people with the complete regimen in Spain is 40,740,303 people.

Thus, 86 percent of the total population of Spain, including children under 12 years of age, has received the complete schedule of the Covid-19 vaccine; However, only 56 percent of the total population has received booster doses.

Regarding people vaccinated with at least one dose in Spain, it should be noted that the percentage has reached 87.2 percent of the total population (90.9% in the population over five years of age).
