Riyadh ∙ A heavy blow to expatriates. Delivery work on two-wheelers will now be limited to Saudis. Regulatory decisions in the delivery sector are issued by the General Transport Authority. The Act will be implemented in a phased manner over a period of 14 months.
It has been decided to allow advertisement on light transport vehicles in coordination with the Ministry of Municipal, Rural Affairs and Housing. Those working in the delivery area using motorcycles must wear a uniform. Foreigners must wear uniform. Meanwhile, natives are not required to wear uniform.
Companies operating in the delivery sector will be forced to activate the face verification feature for their drivers through a system directly linked to the General Transport Authority. Apart from motivating the Saudis, it also aims to effectively manage the delivery sector. It is expected that this will help in increasing the employment opportunities and developing the services provided in this sector.
