New Regulation by General Authority of Civil Aviation: Traveler Rights and Compensation Guide

Al-Marsad Newspaper: The General Authority of Civil Aviation issued, on its website, a new regulation to protect the rights of travelers, which will take effect on November 20, 2023.

The regulation included 30 articles that guarantee the traveler access to care, support and compensation, as follows:

flight delay

Providing refreshments, food, hotel accommodation, and transportation for flights that were delayed for more than 6 hours, in addition to a financial compensation of approximately 750 Saudi riyals.

Trip cancellation

Compensation of up to 150% of the ticket price, according to the period of notice to the passenger of the cancellation.

refused to board

Money back plus 200% compensation.

Lower the degree of boarding

Up to 200% compensation.

Unscheduled stops

Compensation of approximately 500 Saudi riyals for each downtime

requirements of persons with disabilities

Compensation of 200% of the ticket value in case of refusal to board.

Compensation of approximately 500 Saudi riyals in the event that a wheelchair is not provided as an alternative to the passenger’s chair, as the provisions and compensation for baggage apply to him.

lost baggage

Compensation of approximately 6,568 Saudi riyals for lost luggage.

damaged luggage

Compensation not exceeding approximately 6,568 Saudi riyals.

Delayed baggage

740 Saudi riyals for the first day and 300 Saudi riyals from the second day, with a maximum of approximately 6,568 Saudi riyals for baggage delay.

Runway delay upon departure or arrival

If the delay exceeds 3 hours, the traveler has the right to disembark from the plane and be compensated according to the provisions of the cancellation.
