New record of 3,549 daily cases of covid-19 reported in county

Dallas County Health and Human Services reported 3,549 new COVID-19 cases and 14 deaths. This is a record nine for a single day.

The pandemic has 197,350 cases since March 2020 and 1,791 deaths due to the disease caused by the coronavirus.

The provisional average in seven days reached 2,104 and at this time the contagion rate is at 79.8 new cases per 100,000 residents, the highest rate since the start of the pandemic.

In terms of hospitalizations, as of Monday, there were 1,226 COVID-19 patients in intensive care and 462 people had come to emergency rooms with COVID-19 symptoms in the last 24 hours.

“Today we report 3,549 new cases of covid-19. This is more than 350 cases more than what we had previously reported in a single day, “said County Judge Clay Jenkins.

“We are in our most difficult period in the spread of covid-19. Activities that weeks ago seemed safe are no longer safe. Much of the focus is now on the vaccine, as it should be, but the job of ensuring an orderly and prompt vaccination falls to some of us in health and emergency response. The task of staying healthy and free from the Covid-19 outbreak falls on all of you, ”added Jenkins.

Judge Jenkins insisted that people not eat inside restaurants or go to gyms. He also recommended that purchases be made online and food be removed from the curb of restaurants or a delivery service be ordered.
