SATA Azores Airlines broke its record earlier this year.

He drew attention to the record on the social networks Airbus, which has long offered the A321LR version as an alternative to wide-body aircraft for long-haul flights. The previous record was set by the same carrier at the beginning of the year when it flew from Lisbon to Bogota. At that time, he stayed in the air for 19 minutes longer, but covered a shorter distance.

The plane flew from Oakland, California to Lajes in the Azores. During the nine-and-a-half-hour flight, it covered 7,847 kilometers. The previous record was 7,651 kilometers. The carrier did not specify how many people and cargo were on board, it was not a regular line.

So far, the A321LR flies mainly on transatlantic routes, used for example by TAP Air Portugal or Air Transat, and now also JetBlue between New York and London.
