Raleigh.- On the second day of 2021, North Carolina has once again registered a record in the cases of contagion of COVI-19. According to the Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) there were 9,527 new cases reported. These figures surpassed the high figures reached on December 18, surpassing the previous highest day in the state established on December 18 of last year.
2.15.5 percent of tests tested positive in January, the highest rate since the start of the pandemic. Additionally, 3,479 people were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 783 people were in the intensive care unit.

Earlier this week, the White House Coronavirus Task Force issued severe warnings to North Carolinians, including:
-If you are under the age of 40 and were gathered outside of your immediate home, you should assume that you were infected with COVID-19 even if you don’t have any symptoms.
-You are dangerous to others and should isolate yourself from anyone at higher risk of serious illness and get tested. If you are over 65 or have significant health problems, you must not enter any indoor public space where no one is unmasked and you must receive food and medicine.
The state health department reminded the community that COVID-19 is highly contagious and more than half of North Carolinians are at high risk for serious illness.
Studies have also found that some people, including those with mild illness, experience symptoms for weeks or months after infection.
Remember that North Carolina’s modified stay-at-home order is in effect. This order requires people to stay home between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. Businesses, including restaurants, bars, entertainment venues, personal care businesses, most retail stores, and more, must close by 10 p.m. Additionally, all on-site alcohol sales must end by 9pm
