ODANAK. For its second season of activities, the Abénaki Aventure campground has a ton of new things to offer campers. After a first year marked by a dazzling success in terms of its concept and its location, this year it will offer more space, more services and more…pleasure!
Although Abénaki Aventure has already welcomed its first campers in 2022, everything is not quite ready yet. Around July 15, campers will be able to settle in one of the four new ready-to-camp cabins that are still under construction.
These cottages offer several amenities such as bath, shower, kitchenette, microwave, wood stove, electricity, etc., and will be accessible year-round! It’s like a hotel room! “says Martin O’Bomsawin, owner of Abénaki Aventure, who adds that the demand for ready-to-camp is growing. It is for this reason that he has also acquired five trailers that will be available for rental.
At the same time this summer, around July 15, the sanitary blocks including toilets and showers should also be ready. Mr. O’Bomsawin initially hoped that everything would be ready for Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day, but construction delays slowed down the project. Mr. O’Bomsawin will make his 13 tent sites, located in the pine forest, accessible when the toilet blocks open.
While for the 2021 season the campsite was made up of five sites with eight pitches, 44 new pitches have been added which will be accessible from June 24th. Pitches are included in loops of 8, 6, 4 or 3 pitches.
As for water games for children, we will have to wait another year before enjoying them. Abénaki Aventure, however, plans to add two volleyball courts. Also, the building that was initially to serve as a reception center will be converted into a tourist information center where it will be possible to find watercraft rentals in the various businesses in the sector.
» If we help people find activities, they will stay longer at the campsite! It will also benefit local rental businesses,” says Martin O’Bomsawin.
Vacationers who would like to make a stopover at Abénaki Aventure will have to act quickly, because the sites fill up quickly. During the Odanak Pow Wow weekend, the campground is already 50% reserved. Moreover, Mr. O’Bomsawin plans to set up a marquee at the campground reception which will host musicians and a corn roast!
