The protection Moderna vaccine offers against the coronavirus hardly decreases after six months. Six months after the second shot, the effectiveness of the corona vaccine is 93 percent. That’s pretty much on par with Moderna’s 94 percent effectiveness in its first clinical trials of the drug.

Moderna announced the research results in its quarterly results. The fact that the protection remains at the same level is not the case with all corona vaccines. For example, a pre-publication of research was published last month showing that the vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech is 84 percent effective after six months, compared to 96 percent at its peak.
Moderna CEO Stéphane Bancel is happy that the vaccine offers long-term protection, but warned that the highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus poses new dangers. “So we have to remain vigilant.”
