Last year Insider Gamings Tom Henderson already reported that the PS5’s 7.00 update will roll out on March 8 this year. At the time, he wrote that full Discord integration will be rolled out from that date, but now he says that another feature will be added: streaming PS5 games via the cloud. Only PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers can access this feature. Henderson does not say which PS5 games are involved.
In the coming days, according to Henderson, Sony will begin beta testing the new update, which will end on January 30. During this test, beta testers will not yet have access to the Discord integration.
Discord integration on PlayStation has been in the works for some time
Sony already announced in 2021 that it would be working with Discord. CEO Jim Ryan wrote at the time that a lot of work was being done to connect Discord to the PlayStation Network and that the goal was to “bring the Discord and PlayStation experiences closer together on console and mobile” starting in early 2022. Now, almost two years later, Discord integration is still not a fact.
As of this week, PS5 owners can, incidentally download another update. This patch ensures that the PS5 will support the new DualSense Edge Controller, which is due out January 26 with a high price tag. The update also provides better stability and the performance improved.
