New PS4 Emulator psOff for PC: Sonic Mania Plus Running at 1,449 FPS and More – GitHub Source

One of the most debated topics among gamers on social media in recent days was the Nintendo Switch, Yuzu and Citra emulators, both taken down by the Japanese giant. But if you think that only Big N consoles receive this kind of attention on PC, know that you are very mistaken.

Recently, developers SysRay and VKokielov created a new PS4 emulator called psOffwhich uses Linux binaries to run on Windows — and already seems to be able to handle some simple titles in great configurations on the PC, although it is still a little far from ideal.

According to SysRay, one of psOff’s biggest differences is its rendering power, which is done very quickly, in addition to the possibility of reaching high frame rates. Just to name a few examples, the devs managed to reproduce Sonic Mania Plus with more than 1,449 FPS, as well as Worms WMD a 234 FPS e Blackhole: Complete Edition a 32 FPS.

According to information from psOff on the official page of GitHubwhere you can also download it to try it out, “the runtime and rendering part are currently private.”

psOff is the sixth PS4 emulator in development for the PC

As noted by DSO GamingpsOff is the sixth PS4 emulator currently in development, alongside fpPS4, Spine, RPCSX, Kyty and GPCS4 — with Spine being the most optimized option among them.

The outlet notes that all of the PS4 emulators listed above do not yet have the ability to run complex 3D games. So, if you’re hoping to play some of the platform’s classics, like Bloodborne, inFamous: Second Son or Knackfor example, best to keep expectations low — at least for now.

In fact, the RPCSX emulator has already given a little hope by at least reproducing the initial screen of Bloodborne – but only this. Although the feat doesn’t seem that impressive, this is already quite an achievement for the niche, considering that other software can’t even open the game on the PC.
