Lubbock, Texas (KXTQ) – From now on Texas residents will have to get used to dialing the area code for all local calls.
Starting October 25, many Texans in different area codes including “806” will have to dial 10 digits for local calls.
It would be the prefix of “806” and then the phone number.
–10-digit dialing instituted to facilitate access to National Suicide Prevention Lifeline(Public Utility Commission)
The areas of the map in yellow will not be affected by this change.
This change occurs because the Federal Communications Commission designed the prefix “988” as a new area to contact the National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
That prefix and all prefixes nationwide will be part of the 10-digit rule for July 16, 2022.
