New PlayStation 5 revision coming in, what’s the difference?

The PlayStation 5 comes with an improved or simply modified design, which is both lighter overall, which will result in a slightly cheaper production for Sony. In addition, there are also some functional changes, namely easier installation of SSDs. Also the screw holding the stand on the console is now pressed, so we don’t need a screwdriver and our fingers are enough.

First, new versions of the CFI-1100B console appeared in the region of Australia and Japan, and then customers from the United States also began to report, so it is only a matter of time before the new version enters our market, if of course it is not already there.

Without a screwdriver, we will also get to the position for installing the M.2 SSD, which has long been a sought-after and promised change that Sony has been offering for some day. A standard M.2 SSD for PCIe 4.0 will suffice, which according to Sony’s requirements should have a sequential read speed of at least 5,500 MB / s. It is also recommended to have a passive heatsink located on the SSD.

In terms of weight, the new version weighs only 3.6 kg compared to 3.9 kg of the original digital version of the PlayStation 5 console (model with a mechanism weighs 4.5 kg) and we can only hope that Sony did not shave those 300 grams at the expense mechanical resistance or perhaps even cooling quality.
