New PFOS ruling by the Council of State casts a shadow over the continuation of Oosterweel works

PFOS?
In April 2021, the bomb exploded in the PFOS scandal. At the Oosterweel Works in Antwerp, soil was excavated with high levels of the chemical PFOS, originating from the nearby 3M factory.

PFOS is a chemical belonging to the larger PFAS family. Too high a concentration of these substances in your body can be dangerous for your health.

In the weeks and months that follow, it becomes increasingly clear that the Flemish government has been aware of the PFOS pollution in Zwijndrecht since 2017, but that all communication about this was blocked.
