“New Peugeot 2008: Innovations, Design, and Engine Range for 2023 Release”

The new Peugeot 2008 will go on sale in the summer of 2023 and will arrive with a range of exciting innovations, including a more powerful 115 kW/156 hp electric motor and an impressive range of 406 km in the electric e-2008.

The new 2008 will be available in three trim levels – ACTIVE, ALLURE, GT – and with four different engines. In 2024, a new hybrid engine will also be included in the offer, which will provide motorists with sustainable and environmentally friendly choices in the years to come, while 2008 will help maintain its place at the top of the auto industry.

The popular B-segment crossover Peugeot 2008 has been on sale for three years, but its electric version e-2008 has sold more than 75,000 units so far. The new Peugeot 2008 will be manufactured in Vigo, Spain.

Attractive design

Overall appearance and style are key to the Peugeot 2008’s success, so firstly, the new Peugeot 2008 has a refreshed front and rear light signature. At the front, the identity of the model is formed by three vertical lines of LED lights integrated into the glossy black inserts of the bumper, thus creating a bold and strong crossover design. The new light signature will be used in all 2008 versions, however, in the GT model, to create a different visual image, Peugeot goes a step further and extends the vertical light lines to full LED headlights with three additional modules.

At the rear, three cat claws are depicted by new LED lights with three horizontal double lines, the thin and elegant shape of which gives the car visual width. An even more modern look is provided by new reverse lights and direction indicators with LEDs.

Among the innovations in the exterior design of the Peugeot 2008, we should also mention the light-metal wheels of an innovative design, modeled after the Peugeot 408. The new wheels will be available in several versions and sizes: 16” NOMA is for 2008 ACTIVE models, 17” KARAKOY is available for 2008 ALLURE and GT, and 18” EVISSA wheels will be available as an option only for 2008 GT.

Modernized i-Cockpit

The main element of the cabin and one of the most expressive characteristics of Peugeot brand models is the i-Cockpit®. Over the past decade, this salon concept has been integrated into more than 10 million cars, but the new 2008 uses its modernized and improved version, which raises ergonomics and driving pleasure to a new level.

The Peugeot 2008 ACTIVE version has an analog instrument cluster above the steering wheel at eye level. The new ALLURE and GT versions, on the other hand, have a digital instrument panel with a newly designed 10” display, which also has a 3D function in the GT models. The color, information hierarchy and layout of the display can be fully customized by each motorist according to their needs.

If until now the Peugeot 2008 had a 7″ central touch screen as standard in the two lowest equipment levels, then a 10″ touch screen is already included in the standard equipment for all versions of the new 2008. It can be used to manage radio and telephone functions, as well as the latest Peugeot i-Connect® and Peugeot i-Connect Advanced® infotainment systems. The center screen of the ALLURE and GT versions uses HD technology, and the piano keys below provide easy access to key functions.

The new 2008 models feature an improved, ergonomic 6-speed manual transmission, while automatic models retain the discreet and elegant selector that was introduced in spring 2022. To adapt the car’s performance to road conditions, the Peugeot 2008 features Grip Control, which allows the driver to choose between three different driving modes: sand, mud and snow.

Electric present

The latest version of the electric e-2008 sets new standards for efficiency and performance. It has a more powerful 115 kW/156 hp engine (previously 100 kW/136 hp) already used in the E-208 and E-308, and a battery with a capacity of 54 kWh (previously 50 kWh). Thanks to significant improvements in efficiency, the autonomy of the new e-2008 on a full charge reaches 406 km (WLTP combined cycle). Previously, the range in the WLTP combined cycle was only 345 km.

Tentative battery charging times from 20% to 80% are 30 minutes at a public 100 kW charging station, 4 hours and 40 minutes at a 7.4 kW WallBox and 11 hours and 10 minutes from a 3.2 kW outlet.

At the beginning of 2024, the new 2008 will receive the new 48 V hybrid unit, which consists of a new generation 136 hp PureTech gasoline engine combined with an electrified 6-speed dual-clutch transmission with an electric motor.

Thanks to the hybrid system’s 48 V battery, which is charged while driving, this technology offers additional torque at low engine speeds and up to 15% less fuel consumption. In city driving, the new 2008 HYBRID can operate in 100% electric zero-emissions mode more than 50% of the time.

The engine range of the new Peugeot 2008 is not only made up of electric and electrified variants; the range of power units available for the model is wide enough to satisfy a wide variety of needs. In addition to electrified engines, customers can also choose classic gasoline and diesel engines. The offer includes PureTech 100 HP – 3-cylinder gasoline engine with 1.2-liter working volume, 100 HP power and Stop&Start system, PureTech 130 HP – 130 HP, 3-cylinder, 1.2-liter gasoline engine, which can be combined with an 8-speed automatic (EAT8) or a 6-speed manual transmission, as well as the BlueHDi 130 HP EAT8 – 130 HP, 1.5-liter, 4-cylinder diesel engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission (EAT8 ) and Stop&Start system.

Infotainment system with extensive customization options

Each user can easily adapt the new Peugeot i-Connect® system to their individual needs with a variety of widgets and shortcuts. When set up like this, the infotainment system works much like a smartphone, allowing you to easily navigate between menu windows.

Peugeot i-Connect® offers complete wireless connectivity with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ tools. The upgraded version also includes a high-performance TomTom® connected navigation system that uses the 10” screen in full-size mode for maximum functionality. The system is regularly updated, so it always includes the latest traffic information.

The new Peugeot 2008 GTs are equipped as standard with a modernized and more powerful 15 W wireless smartphone charger (previously – 5 W). This feature is optionally available for other versions of 2008.

In addition to this, the new Peugeot 2008 now has front and rear cameras with high definition technology. In addition, the front camera can be connected to the blind spot monitoring system, which provides a 360° all-round view, which greatly facilitates parking. Availability of this option depends on the 2008 trim level selected.

The new 2008 offers a wide range of driver support systems that not only improve safety, but also increase driving comfort. These include adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, road sign recognition, lane departure warning, driver alertness monitoring, blind spot monitoring and Grip Control with three operating modes. .

Finally, with the MyPeugeot mobile app, Peugeot electric car owners can remotely manage their car’s functions, such as preheating or cooling the cabin, scheduling, starting or delaying battery charging, as well as accessing real-time information about their car’s range and battery charge status. By using a smartphone with MyPeugeot, PEUGEOT owners can personalize their driving experience while contributing to a more sustainable future.
