He Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community (CMCV) presents the exhibition ‘New perspectives in the Contemporary Art collection of the Generalitat Valenciana’, which can be visited until February 4, 2024 at the Guardamar del Segura House of Culture. The proposal is due to the CMCV’s core commitment to the province of Alicante to bring quality artistic manifestations.
The presentation was attended by the mayor of Guardamar del Segura, José Luis Sáez Pastorthe town’s Culture Councilor, Pilar Gayand the coordinator of Public Programs of the Consortium of Museums, Eva Domenech.
This is the third and last exhibition in the cycle of Guardamar del Segura as Valencian Cultural Capital, which, with the intention of accompanying the Mostra d’Art Jove En Creació, brings together the work of artists who explore new formats and resources, in search of means of expression in line with their concerns and with the fragmented and dynamic reality of our days.
The exhibition, organized and produced by the CMCV with the collaboration of the Guardamar del Segura City Council, Valencian Cultural Capital, brings together the works of Alex Marco, Fermín Jiménez Landa, Jota Izquierdo, Lluis Masià, M. The representative of the CMCV, Eva Doménech, has pointed out that with this exhibition the Museum Consortium “continues its work of bringing the best art to the province of Alicante, fulfilling its objectives as a public organization that supports culture throughout the Valencian Community and, in this case, with an exhibition that supports our artists and gallery owners, another of the founding principles of the CMCV.”
If the first two exhibitions dedicated to the ‘Col.lecció Art contemporani de la Generalitat Valenciana’ focused on work with ceramics and painting respectively, this third exhibition explores new creative formats such as installation or audiovisual, as well as work with techniques such as laser cutting, among others, by nine artists, five of whom were born in the province of Valencia, three in Alicante and one in Castellón
Collection ‘Contemporary Art of the Generalitat Valenciana’
The ‘Art Contemporani de la Generalitat Valenciana’ collection, to which the works in this exhibition belong, began to be formed in 2017 with the aim of promoting and revitalizing the artistic sector of the Valencian Community, recognizing those artists and outstanding pieces that offer an overview of current contemporary art and represent a valuable long-term heritage legacy.
Since then, the Generalitat has acquired more than a hundred works of art without generational guidelines or thematic restrictions, which address issues of our closest society and which are included in the process of generating a memory. Likewise, this has allowed the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community to develop exhibition activity throughout the three provinces.
On the occasion of its designation as Valencian Cultural Capital, Guardamar del Segura hosts three exhibitions between September 2023 and February 2024, with works from the ‘Contemporary Art of the Generalitat Valenciana’ collection selected according to different criteria.
