New pause in the process of planting sunflower and early corn | ON24

The period between September 22 and 28, 2021, was characterized by dry environments and a gradual decrease in useful water in the seedbed, which is why the pace of the sowing process with sunflower and first-class corn decreased in the current campaign. , coming to a complete stop. There was only a weekly increase of 4 and 8 points respectively.

To date, 102,460 ha of the first and 86,940 ha of the second have been implanted; It is a reality that it would very difficult to achieve the figures of the planting intentions estimated in a timely manner, for each crop, says the report of the Agricultural Estimation System for the North Center of the Province of Santa Fe, which is published by the Santa Fe Stock Exchange. .

The wheat fields began their stages of definition, flowering and reproduction, with good health, and 93% of the properties remained in good to very good condition, with some excellent and 7% good to fair.

On the other hand, sunflower or early corn cultivars germinated, emerged, being observed with good development and without difficulties, to date.

For the interval between Wednesday, September 29 to October 5 of this year, the forecasts foresee partially cloudy days from the beginning, with the course of the days they would become covered, a situation that would prevail until mid-Thursday 30. A posteriori , climatic instability, with high probabilities of rainfall of low intensity and amounts, said conditions would alternate with hours of sunshine, until the beginning of Sunday 03.

Wheat

The wheat fields continued in good condition, going through stages of definition, flowering and reproduction, under variable environmental conditions, such as the case of daily temperatures that presented a significant thermal amplitude, with very windy and dry days. To date, no pests or diseases have been detected.

Sunflower

In the period, due to the lack of humidity in the surface horizon, the sowing process gradually decreased until it stopped completely. The implanted to date reached 102,460 ha, 94% of the estimated planting intention.

The vegetative states of the first stage crops continued to be very good, progressing in normal growth and vegetative development, without complications.

Regarding the sanitary status, so far no pests or diseases have been detected, but the monitoring of the properties continued, due to the possible presence of cutter caterpillars (Agrotis spp) and they also continued to be closely observed, for the early detection of mildew (Plasmopara halstedii).

Corn

The sowing process achieved a degree of progress of 92%, about 86,940 ha, of the total of 94,500 estimated for the year.

In the middle of the week, the implantation rate decreased and came to a complete stop at the end of the week, waiting for rainfall and better availability of useful water in the seedbed.

The implanted cultivars continued their growth and development, in certain sectors they advanced with the nitrogen fertilization process.

Their sanitary status was very good, without pests or diseases.

Useful water

In the total surface of the study area, the north center of Santa Fe, constituted by the departments Nueve de Julio, Vera, General Obligado, San Cristóbal, San Justo, San Javier, Garay, Castellanos, Las Colonias, La Capital, San Martín and San Jerónimo, the availability of useful water in the first 20 cm of the soils was considered acceptable, to date, but the moisture content decreased and significantly affected the sowing process.

The already implanted cultivars presented their root system developed and thus covered their demands without inconvenience, given the climatic characteristics of the period.
