Yesterday was the usual “Patch Tuesday”, or the second Tuesday of the month, when Microsoft came up with patches for its Windows systems, and these were now for the new eleven. It should be noted, however, that updates regarding CPPC2 and the L3 cache latency issue should not have been released yesterday. As the text above shows, in the first case, the AMD driver, which will be released next week on Thursday (October 21), and two days earlier, Microsoft should release a patch for the L3 cache will address the issue.

As part of the regular Patch Tuesday, other patches were born, but unfortunately they also affected the latency of the L3 cache, which was tested by the server. TechPowerUp on a system with a Ryzen 7 2700X processor. Its L3 cache latency should usually be around 10 nm, while on October 11 it was still 17 ns and with new patches it was almost 32 ns. –

The situation is a bit confusing and we can hope that the performance of Ryzen processors will be really fine under Windows 11 at least until the end of this month, for one simple and important reason. The Alder Lake-S processors will soon be on the market, which will be tested under Windows 11, due to their hybrid mix of cores, before they are released to the market, which are to be prepared for them. That is, in order for the tests to be really suitable for something, Ryzeny must also work without problems under Windows 11. In their case, of course, it will be possible to verify the results below tens, and thus find out whether the elevens do not cheat us.
