The City Council has set up a new parking area with 32 spaces in the Santa Isabel neighbourhood, in response to a request from residents. The mayor of Jan, Julio Milln, who has visited the area, explained that it is a space of around 1,000 square meters on Fuerte del Rey street in this neighborhood, which has been converted into a parking area with a better layout. .

“It was a dirt area that the residents of this area habitually used to park and that has been transformed by repairing the pavement and spreading a layer of compacted artificial gravel to finish with a layer of hot asphalt agglomerate throughout,” said the mayor. . In addition, the area has been marked with road markings, also delimiting the entrance and exit roads to the site.

In this way, the space has been optimized with a rearrangement that has led to 32 being able to enable 32 of the 16 spaces that the place had, ending up with the parking randomly that meant that the place was not properly used. . Of the 32 places, three are for people with disabilities –two generic and one with a disc for a person who has been granted space reservations–.

During this visit, the mayor of Urban Maintenance, Javier Padorno, also explained that a problem of subsidence in the sidewalk of this street has been addressed, a matter that the residents themselves brought to the attention of the City Council. “We have solved a subsidence that the sidewalk presented and that caused a pool of water at the entrance of one of the houses. For this, we have proceeded to the demolition and subsequent repair of the entire sidewalk and the connection of a scupper to the network sanitation”, Padorno pointed out.

The works have been carried out with the means of the Urban Maintenance area and have had the collaboration of the Councilor for Citizen Security for the work of painting and signaling the parking spaces and with the support of the street conservation project for the extension of the layer of the hot agglomerate.
