BUSINESS. The Tzav restaurant located on 105th Avenue in Shawinigan is changing hands and the new owner Jean-Claude Doucet will integrate a new concept for the restaurant which will be renamed “Les 2 frères-Bistro sportif”.
Originally from La Tuque, Jean-Claude Doucet took over from his father Jean-Paul of the Latuquoise institution “Le roi de la patate” since September 1, 2022. He has set up a trusted team for the restaurant in La Tuque, which will allow it to be present in Shawinigan for its new acquisition. “I wouldn’t have bought the Tzav if I hadn’t been manager of the Potato King for almost a year. I had frequented the place for several years. It was my friend Olivier Hamel who informed me that the restaurant could be for sale since it belonged to his sister. There was a very interesting opportunity here, and I will bring added value to the restaurant by hosting the evenings as I have been a songwriter and DJ for 15 years”, expresses the owner.
It was on June 1 that he officially became the new owner. “I was able to take the time to make a good decision, because it wasn’t necessarily in my career plans to have two restaurants. »
Before it was the Tzav restaurant, it was the Brochetterie les 2 frères which was located there. Why bring back the name Les 2 frères? “When I told my local friends that I wanted to buy the Tzav, they asked me where it was. By saying that it was formerly the Brochetterie the 2 brothers, they knew where. It was obvious for me to come back with the name as it’s an instant marketing stunt. »
In addition to organizing evening entertainment, the owner wants to bring back lunches 7 days a week. “There isn’t that much room for lunches in Shawinigan-Sud. It will also be the same menu, and I want to enhance the offer with tables d’hôte. It will also be the same pizza since I also bought the recipe by buying the restaurant. I will add television screens and it will also be the place to watch a sports match in the evening, with musical entertainment at the end of the matches. »
An official opening with the presentation of the new logo should be held next July.
