New Orleans Saints put 9 players on COVID-19 list • FootballR

It was reported back Thursday that the Saints must place quarterbacks Taysom Hill and Trevor Siemian on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Now those moves are confirmed, along with seven other players New Orleans added to the list.

Safety Malcolm Jenkins, guard James Carpenter, linebacker Kaden Elliss, safety Jeff Heath, defensive end Jalyn Holmes, offensive tackle Jordan Mills and defensive tackle Christian Ringo are also now on the New Orleans COVID-19 list.

While NFL Media and The Times-Picayune previously reported that Siemian was placed on the COVID-19 list after testing positive, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Hill has also tested positive for the virus.

Rookie quarterback Ian Book will now line up for New Orleans against Miami on Monday night.

The Saints also put tight ends Juwan Johnson and Adam Trautman on the COVID-19 list earlier in the week. Head coach Sean Payton also missed Sunday’s win against the Buccaneers after testing positive last week.

Because of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, New Orleans did not train on Thursday. However, the team issued a preliminary injury report.

Offensive tackles Ryan Ramczyk (knee) and Terron Armstead (knee) would not have practiced. Defensive end Marcus Davenport (shoulder) and receiver Tre’Quan Smith (shoulder) could only have trained to a limited extent. Safety Marcus Williams (shoulder) would have been a full participant.
